The Casarão de Ideias Cultural Center (CCCI) is opening its second street movie theater this Thursday (September 12). The new space, which has 25 seats and accessibility features, is equipped with the latest-generation Christie Series 4 laser projector, launched in March this year at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the most anticipated event in the film industry.

This technology, exclusive in Northern Brazil, will allow Cine Casarão to host productions from new distributors such as Warner, Paris Filmes, Universal, as well as national distributors.

“On Thursday, we will once again revive street cinema, which once played such an important role in the heart of Manaus. We renovated the first theater during the Casarão’s expansion, and now we are opening this second room with the highest level of technology,” said João Fernandes, director of CCCI.

According to João, the theater features Dolby Digital 7.1 sound, and both the projection and sound equipment have DCI certification, ensuring the quality and security of the content being displayed. “We’ve prepared the best for all the cinema fans. Casarão’s mission is always to innovate and offer Manaus quality cultural and artistic options,” he concluded.

The new Cine Casarão theater is made possible by the Paulo Gustavo Law, with support from the Manaus City Hall, ConCultura, the Amazonas State Government, the Secretariat of State for Culture and Creative Economy (Sec), the State Council of Culture (Conec), the Ministry of Culture, and the Federal Government.

For its opening week, two new feature films have been selected: O Bastardo and Meu Amigo Pinguim. Tickets for the new Room 2 are priced at R$ 24 (full) and R$ 12 (half-price), available for purchase through the Ingresso.com website or app. Room 1 maintains the same ticket prices: R$ 20 (full) and R$ 10 (half-price).

The first screening of O Bastardo on Thursday will be at 5:10 PM. Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, the film tells the remarkable story of Ludvig Kahlen, an 18th-century Danish soldier and explorer. The film depicts Kahlen’s arduous journey to explore and tame the wild Jutland, a vast region of Denmark that today constitutes most of the country. Amid immense challenges and confrontations with the forces of nature, Kahlen strives to cultivate and colonize this inhospitable land. The film will be re-screened on Saturday (September 14) at 7:20 PM and Sunday (September 15) at 3:00 PM.

Also on Thursday, the first screening of Meu Amigo Pinguim will take place at 7:30 PM. Directed by David Schurmann, this feature film is a story of friendship between a lonely father and a small lost penguin, who restores his spirit and heals his family with an unwavering loyalty that crosses the ocean. The film will be re-screened on Friday (September 13) at 7:20 PM, Saturday at 3:00 PM, and Sunday at 5:30 PM.
